Make it right. Make it fast. Make it beautiful.
I’m Jeff Schwab, a software consultant with 25+ years of experience in the finance, health, advertising, and semiconductor industries. I am a former employee of Google, IBM, Bloomberg, Sun Microsystems, and several exited startups.
I am now available for short-term contracts and scoped projects where quality and maintainability are paramount.
What I do
- Systems and application development in Rust, C++, Python, and TypeScript
- Design review before implementation begins
- Code audits of correctness-critical components
- Build, test, and tooling infrastructure that makes failures reproducible
- Mentoring and technical training for your engineers
How I work
I focus on tightly scoped projects with a defined deliverable and an end date. We agree up front on what “done” means and which part of the system is in scope; I work on that part and hand it back finished. Where the right answer is a larger change, I’ll say so and quote it as its own project. Audits work the same way: I report what I find by the agreed date, and any work that follows is its own project.

Send me a paragraph about what you are building: what it does, what it must never get wrong, and when you need it. We can then schedule a chat, and work together to set the scope, price, and end date.
